You may be wondering - who is it that created this shop? Who designs the decor? Where did it all start?
Well friends, I'm here to tell you a little more of our story and welcome you to our new blog "Jet Lagged & Joyful." As our blog evolves I hope to share a variety of things with you - behind the scenes stories about where the designs from our products came from, showcases of our new collection, travel tips and fun facts, stories of past travels, and how to choose and use our products.
But for now, let's start at the very beginning.
I'm Melissa, Owner of Out of Office Outfitters. By day I've always worked in human service environments that are often high stress and take an emotional toll. I have always used travel and adventure as my way of recharging my batteries and as something to look forward to when days get tough. I started Out of Office Outfitters as an extension of that to serve both as a creative outlet and a daily reminder of adventures to come.
I chose to create home decor to provide that same daily reminder for others in a personalized way. Whenever my husband and I travel we have 2 "must find" souvenirs: a Christmas ornament and something to hang on the wall. Our walls (and our Christmas tree) have turned into a commemoration of all the amazing places we've been and memories we've shared.
We can walk through our home and be reminded of all the laughs we shared, the beauty we encountered, and the adventures that took us out of our comfort zone. It helps to fill our cup back up on a tough day while fueling our wanderlust for our next destination.
When creating designs, I think about what would remind me of some of my favorite places. Maybe it's a subtle nod or "Easter Egg," maybe it's an inspiring quote or saying, maybe it's the location or coordinates, maybe it's a good laugh. I want to help evoke the same emotions for you of your favorite places each time you walk by your piece.
I can't wait to tell you more about the stories behind our travels as well as the pieces I design. I'd also love to hear from you - what do you want to see here? What types of designs to you want to see more of? Will you tell me a favorite travel story? Send me an email at info@outofofficeoutfitters.com. I'd love to hear from you!
